The armed forces court today heard the case of 6 people who were recently arrested by the security forces during an operation at the checkpoints between the cities of Baledweyne and Matabaan in Hiran region.
These men who appeared before the Court, all of them young, numbered 5 people, while the sixth one is in the hospital, after being injured in the operation to remove the roadblocks.
The investigator of this case, the men who were arrested while standing at a checkpoint on the highway, Engineer Yusuf, said that the men were robbing people and vehicles.
Some of the men who spoke before the court admitted that they blocked the road, and they asked the court to make their case lighter, as they were part of the army that fought for the area.
Finally, Dhame Mohamud Saeed, who is the deputy prosecutor of the Armed Forces Court, demanded that the man who committed the robbery be given a harsh sentence to set an example for others, and the court sentenced the man to 10 years in military prison and that their weapons be confiscated by the government.
The trial of the men is coming, as recently the public security in Baledweyne town has been officially taken over by the Federal Government of Somalia.
