Somalia and Ukraine held diplomatic talks on the telephone line.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Ambassador Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, spoke on the phone with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, as they discussed the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Minister Fiqi expressed his hope for the return of peace and stability to the people of Ukraine. Both ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening relations and developing mutual interests between Ukraine and Somalia.

On the other hand, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said that they welcome the fact that Somalia is ready to have diplomatic relations with the Government of Ukraine, which is at war with the Russian Government.

In a brief statement posted on X’s website, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, confirmed that he and his counterpart in Somalia spoke on the phone and discussed establishing a relationship between the two governments.

“I thanked Somalia for its support for Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity,” said Minister Andrii Sybiha.

The Minister revealed the need to establish diplomatic relations and expand bilateral cooperation between the Governments of Ukraine and Somalia.

The government of Ukraine has been in conflict with the Russian government for years and wants to annex parts of Ukraine to Russia.
