The Special Envoy of the Chairperson of the African Union (SRCC) in Somalia, who is the Head of AUSSOM, Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef, welcomed the joint communique issued on the 11th of this month in Addis Ababa, after talks between the President Somalia’s Hassan Sheikh and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef indicated that they appreciate the important progress made in bilateral relations between the two governments.
The ambassador declared that this confirms the continuation of the implementation of the provisions agreed by the two governments at the meeting held in Ankara.
Mohamed El-Amine highlighted the importance of focusing on strengthening diplomatic relations, security cooperation, development of economic integration, all of which are important for the development of regional peace, stability and shared prosperity.
Finally, the ambassador noted that the AUSSOM mission is committed to supporting efforts to stabilize Somalia and regional cooperation, in accordance with the wishes of the Somali people and the vision of the African Union for peace and prosperity in Africa.
