This action includes 3 missions carried out by the European Union in Somalia such as the European Union Naval Forces Operation ATALANTA, the European Union Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM Somalia), and the European Union Capacity Building Mission (EUCAP Somalia).

The press release revealed that this decision follows a strategic review of the European Union’s operations in Somalia and the Horn of Africa, aimed at addressing the growing security challenges and enhancing its role. has maritime security.

The extension is based on the previous decision of the Council of the European Union on December 5, 2023, to renew the EUCAP Somalia.

EUCAP Somalia focuses on developing the capabilities of Somalia’s security agencies, providing strategic advice, counselling, and training, reflecting the EU’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of Somalia’s security forces and ensuring stability in the Horn. Africa.
