Somalia’s Defense Minister, Abdiqadir Mohamed Noor, said that the Jubbaland administration will take responsibility for the conflict between the country’s security forces and the Jubbaland forces in Lower Jubba.
Minister Abdiqadir said that the government of Somalia has strengthened the fight against Al-Shabaab with a force of one thousand soldiers, who have been sent to Raskambooni area. He pointed out that the government forces are not invading Jubbaland, but their aim is to eliminate the Al-Shabaab group.
The minister said that it is unfortunate that the Jubbaland administration is politicizing the country’s armed forces, saying that these forces are being wrongly labeled as destroying the existence of Jubbaland.
“The troops deployed in Raskambooni are the country’s armed forces, and they are working on their constitutional duties. Those who engage in firefights will be held accountable,” Minister Abdiqadir Mohamed Noor added.
The minister stressed that these forces are the ones who have achieved great success in the battles of Bulo Haji which were destroyed by al-Shabaab.
