The quorum of the Parliament of Somalia opened today with 141 members who attended the House of Peoples and the agenda for today’s session was the third reading of the National Higher Education Bill and voting for the bill.
Today’s meeting was chaired by the Speaker of the 1st House of the People’s Assembly, Saadiyo Yasin Haji Samatar, who was accompanied by the second deputy speaker of the People’s Assembly, Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, and it is the 35th meeting of the 5th session of the People’s Assembly.
After that, the members of the House of Representatives shared the report of the 3rd reading and voting for the National Higher Education Bill, which was read by the Secretary of the Social Service Development Committee of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Abdirahman Nadif.
It was included in this initiative that was submitted by the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Higher Education that the parliamentarians should vote for approval, and 140 members approved and one member refused and there was no silence.
The Minister of Education, Heritage and Higher Education of the Federal Government of Somalia, Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, accompanied by the Minister of State for the Ministry Mrs. Noura Mustaf Mukhtar, thanked the members of the House of Representatives for the approval of the National Higher Education Bill, which is important for higher education in Somalia.
Finally, when the meeting of the Parliament ended, Minister Farah, who spoke to the reporters at the front gate of the Parliament, said that the complaints from the Union of Universities regarding this bill have been resolved.
