The Speaker of the Upper House of Somalia, Senator Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, submitted a letter to the House of Representatives regarding the loss of the membership of the Upper House of the Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama.

In the meeting of the upper house, it was said that Senator Salah Jama was absent for 4 sessions in a row, without submitting any excuse, thus he lost his membership in the upper house.

The chairman of the upper house said that Salah Jama was replaced by Ibrahim Suleiman Idle, who was the candidate for membership of the upper house against Salah, who, according to the chairman, has the right to fill the position vacated by the deputy prime minister.

Some of the senators of the upper house opposed this issue, saying that the deputy prime minister was away on national duty during that period.

Senator Osman Obokar Dubbe was one of the senators who opposed him, accusing the chairman of the upper house of using illegal power to strip Senator Salah Jama of his membership.

However, the chairman of the upper house postponed the swearing in of Ibrahim Suleiman Iidle as a member of the upper house, after the members of the upper house refused to vote to remove Salah Jama’s membership.
