The President of Egypt Abdulfatah Sisii confirmed again that Somalia is an important member of the Arab League.
President Siisi stressed that Somalia has the right to collective defense as stated in the Arab League Charter.
“We are not threatening, but we will not allow anyone to threaten Somalia,” Siisi said.
He also added that Egypt will firmly stand by Somalia if they ask for support to defend their nation.
The President’s statement comes at a time when tensions in the region are increasing, especially after Egypt shipped weapons and military equipment to support the Somali armed forces.
Ethiopia has already expressed concern about the weapons that Egypt has given to Somalia, saying that it could threaten the security of the region.
