The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), once again rejected any action against the sovereignty of Somalia, especially the agreement between Ethiopia and the administration of Somaliland.
The ministers gathered for a meeting to prepare for the fifteenth session of the Summit of Islamic Cooperation that took place in the capital of Gambia, Banjul, between May 2 – 3, with the theme of the meeting being “Strengthening Unity and Solidarity through sustainable development.
According to the press release of the meeting, the ministers underlined the importance of providing both material and technical assistance to strengthen the institutions of the Somali government and deal with the challenges of drought in Somalia’s food security.
The statement also supported Somalia’s nomination of Mrs. Fawsiya Yusuf Haji Adam for the position of Chairperson of the African Union Commission for the period (2025-2028).
The 15th conference of the leaders of the Islamic countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will discuss various issues and challenges in the Muslim world, especially the issue of Palestine and the situation of the Gaza Strip.
