Kenyan security agencies said they have arrested Mustakima Mohammed Ali known as Abu Mahir, who is said to be a member of Al-Shabaab.

This man has been wanted by the Kenyan government for life and death since 2019, as he is accused of killing a police officer and two other people in the coastal region of Lamu.

Security forces arrested the man as he was traveling by bus from Lamu to Malindi.

Kenya said that Mustakima was one of the terrorists who were hiding in the Boni Forest before fleeing to Somalia, after operations intensified by the Kenyan security forces.

“Capturing the remnants of al-Shabaab like Mustakima is a great achievement against terrorism as the government uses everything to reduce the threat of terrorism,” said the news.

Kenya says the war against al-Shabaab in Lamu has yielded results in the reduction of terrorist attacks, the implementation of projects and the restructuring of the tourism sector.
