The candidates for the president of Puntland administration, who spoke to the media tonight in Garowe city, gave a strong warning against what they called President Deni’s tyranny in the parliamentary seats that belong to the communities.
Among the candidates, the former president of Puntland, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas said that President Deni is working to put Puntland into political turmoil.
Abdiweli Gas said that President Deni has made a list of MPs that he wants to participate in the election, and he said that the candidates are warning that President Deni will divert the election from its right path.
The former minister of finance of Puntland, Hassan Shire Abgaal, who is one of the candidates, has also accused President Deni of pressuring the dispute resolution committee to remove from the list candidates selected by their communities, and replace them with others led by the presidency.
“Said, we have you stop trying. The country is now at peace. Waiting for the election. President, stay on the illegal list to submit to the committee. Posting a parliament on the wall that does not have an agreement will not mean anything to follow you,” said Abgaal.
The former president of Puntland, Senator Abdirahman Faroole, also warned the committee for the resolution of disputes and President Deni, saying that they should not deviate from the path used to elect the parliament.
Abdirahman Faroole said that the opposition brought troops and war vehicles into the city of Garowe, which he said are angry that President Deni is conducting fraud in the parliamentary elections.
However, the announcement of the parliamentary list that was going to take place this evening is still controversial. The candidates said that President Deni is pressuring the committee to remove members of their communities from the list.
This issue has led to a tense situation in Garowe city tonight that may lead to violence, if no solution is found to the dispute over the election of the parliament.
