A joint committee from SSC-Khatumo, which was working to resolve the political conflict in the Puntland election, today issued a decision that could be a solution to the conflict between the opposition politicians and President Deni.
Isimada, who recently spoke to the press in Garowe, said that the election of the president and vice president of Puntland will be held on January 8, 2024, and said that a delay in the election could cause instability.
The name of SSC-Khatumo said that the current parliament will elect the president and his deputy, saying that the election commission is required to establish a new parliament after 12 months.
They said that they have shared their decision with the parties that are fighting the election, saying that they are hopeful that the parties will accept this decision, and that they believe that Puntland can remove the uncertainty.
On the other hand, the Ismada who issued a statement on the election, which suggested that the election be held on time, welcomed and followed the decision of the SSC-Khatumo.
However, it is not known whether President Deni and the opposition will welcome the decision of SSC-Khatumo.
