The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia has sent a warning to the Somali people, especially those living in the south of the country, warning of the danger of the El Nino storm that could result from the expected heavy rains.

The ministry said in a statement that the weather forecast shows a strong increase in the amount of rain, which can cause loss of life and property.

The ministry has called on the agencies working on relief issues to closely monitor the situation and prepare for the effects of floods caused by the rains that are expected to fall in the country.

It was recently when the forecasting agencies said that the coastal areas of Somalia are facing stormy rains, which can cause extensive damage, if they are not prepared.

The areas that have been warned include Bossaso, Berbera, Kismayo and other coastal cities.

Most late in the year, Somalia is known for heavy rains. Puntland and Somaliland are among the most affected by the rains, and they cause loss of life and property.
