The Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of Somalia, Kamal Dahir Hassan (Gutaale) gave an interview to BBC Somali, he talked about the reason for the delay in the second phase of the operation to liberate Al-Shabaab from the country.
Kamal Gutale said that the government is carrying out many operations and recruiting new soldiers to participate in the new operation.
The security adviser said that Al-Shabaab is still in the Galgaduud region and they are likely to fight hard because according to him they have a strategic objective and the army has already taken this into account.
“The only two big cities are the districts of Elbur and Galhareeri and the subordinate areas of the Galmudug administration that are still under the control of terrorism. God willing, we will clear it soon,” said Kamal Gutale.
He also stated that the second phase of the invasion by the government is part of western Hiran, Middle Shabelle and Bakool region as a whole.
“We are achieving what others could never do. In less than seven months we have trained more than 12,000 new soldiers who are unified and well equipped,” said the consultant.
During the interview, Gutale also mentioned the latest attacks against al-Shabaab, saying that heavy losses were inflicted in areas of Bay and Galgaduud.
The security advisor was asked about the number of al-Shabaab casualties announced by the government, which seems to be greatly exaggerated, and he said that the death toll can never be hidden, and the security forces have a real number of deaths and injuries from al-Shabaab. reach any mission or battle.
