The government of Somalia has announced that military officers of the security agencies of the government have been arrested for the suicide attack that took place in Jale Siyad camp.
The Deputy Minister of Defense of Somalia, A/fitaha Qasim revealed that 14 officers, including the Commandant of the College Jaalle Siad, were arrested for the attack that killed more than 30 soldiers.
This statement was made by the Deputy Minister of Defense at the meeting where the People’s Assembly was asking questions to the Minister of Defense of the Somali government, Abiqadir Mohamed Noor.
A/fitaha Qasim said that the people involved in that act will be held accountable and the law will be brought before them.
It is the largest number of military officers arrested for one of the attacks carried out by al-Shabaab. The Somali government, which is at war with corruption, believes that there are military officers who have close ties with al-Shabaab, who facilitate attacks.
The attack on Jale Siyad’s camp was one of the attacks that showed that it was easy for Al-Shabaab to put the suicide bombers inside Jale Siyad’s camp.
According to some of the soldiers who survived the attack, the person who blew himself up pretended to be a military officer. Although the government has not yet explained how the attack happened.
