A gunman who recently declared rebellion in the Gaal-Libah mountain in the Sahil region of Somaliland has kidnapped 8 people, two of whom are military officers.
MP Hassan Ogaal, who was with another MP in Godawayn district near the mountain, said that the officers and other members were kidnapped while they were trying to investigate the gunmen who had set up a seat on the mountain, as he said in an interview with MMTV.
“While we were in the city, young soldiers came to the city, they kidnapped the 8 members, they took them to their places on the Gaca-Liba mountain,” said MP Ogaal.
The lawmaker said that he and the other lawmaker went after the abductors and later on Wednesday they managed to convince the gunmen to release them. We released it,” said MP Ogaal.
He said that he still does not know the official reason for the kidnapping, but he only thinks that the armed group suspected the activities of the army officers.
The group recently recorded a video of themselves armed, and said that they are against the Somaliland president’s administration.
