The SSC-Khatumo High Council of Culture has issued a statement on the decision of the MSF agency to move its operations from the Lasaanood hospital.
The Supreme Council of SSC-Khatumo thanked the MSF organization for the medical support it provided to the people of Lasaanod and SSC-Khatumo in general.
The council said that it is aware that the attacks by Somaliland in the town of Lasanood are the reason why the organization has to stop its operations at the Lasanood hospital.
“We condemn in the strongest language the massacre and the bombing by Somaliland in Lasanood, which caused the displacement of the people of the town, and especially the MSF workers, which led the Agency to stop its operations in the area, which worsens the situation,” said the statement issued by the Khatumo High Council.
The SSC-Khatumo cultural council has called on the international law and human rights organizations to record the war crimes they say Somaliland has committed in Lasaanood and the SSC-Khatumo regions so they can be held accountable.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently accused the Somaliland army of deliberately targeting health facilities. This issue, which the agency described as war crimes.
The Executive Council of SSC-Khatumo has assured MSF and its staff that the new management of SSC-Khatumo will work with the organization’s leadership so that MSF staff can resume their operations in Lasaanood.
