The Banadir Regional Court today sat down to hear the case against three officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, who are accused of corruption.
The three officers who were brought before the regional court today were operating in facilities at the Aden Adde airport in Mogadishu, and were accused of theft of public property.
The accused officials are Abukar Mohamed Ali, the director of the Eastern Tax office of the Ministry of Finance at Aden Adde Airport, Mohamed Adan Abdullahi, the manager of the Central Bank branch at Aden Adde Airport and Abduqadir Abdi Sodal Abtidoon of the Central Bank, who was working in the foreigner’s income section at Aden Adde Airport, all of whom have been accused by the National Prosecution of acts related to corruption and theft of public property.
The Chairman of the Regional Court of Banadir Salah Ali Mohamud Daban presented the charges against the officials of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, asking them one by one about the charges against the men.
It was recently when four members of the Immigration and Nationality Agency were brought before the Banadir Regional Court, who were held to have committed acts related to the theft of public property.
However, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has said several times that he will never accept the corruption of the nation’s wealth which is the responsibility of the government.
