The United States African Command (AFRICOM) has launched an attack against al-Shabaab in an area known as Hareeri Kalle, which is about 15 km south of Galcad area in Galgaduud region.

This air attack was supported by Somali forces who fought against the Al-Shabaab group.

A press release from AFRICCOM said that the initial assessment of this attack says that 5 members of Al-Shabaab were killed, and no civilians were injured or killed.

The African Command said that it is taking great measures to prevent civilian harm, as several times earlier human rights organizations have said that civilians have been harmed by US airstrikes in Somalia.

The US Africa Command said it will continue to train, advise and equip the Somali forces, to provide them with the tools they need, to weaken the power of the Al-Shabaab group.
