A statement issued by the government of Somalia said that the members of the operation killed were a number of young people who the group recently trained in Aanoole area of ​​Bu’ale district.

“A number of Malaysians who recently graduated from a school to teach young people about explosives in the area of ​​Aanoole on the outskirts of Bu’ale District were targeted in the operation and were seriously injured,” said the statement issued by the Somali government.

Officials from the army who spoke to the national media also said that the 17 members who were killed in the operation last night are mostly foreigners.

The cooperating forces were also said to have destroyed a base where the group was gathering in Weel Maaro area of ​​Lower Jubba region.
