The Chairman of the Somali People’s Assembly Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobobe) has appointed a special committee to review the agreement of the National Consultative Assembly which the government submitted to the People’s Assembly.

The five-member committee will make recommendations on the agreement signed by the government, and then they will return their recommendations to the parliament.

The appointment of this committee has come at a time when the parliament is very divided over this agreement which will eliminate the process by which the government of Somalia was established.

The agreement states that the JFS leadership election process will be unified, and the country will adopt a multi-party system where the President and Vice President will be elected by the Somali people.

Some of the country’s politicians, including the former leaders of the country and Puntland regional administration, have opposed this agreement, describing it as a removal of political power sharing in the country.
