The British government said it supports Somalia’s political reforms and has asked the international community to help the country.
The permanent representative of the UK to the UN, Barbara Woodward, made this statement at the meeting of the Security Council, which was discussing the issues of Somalia, while welcoming the presence of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, while praising the report he gave to the council.
The British ambassador welcomed President Hassan Sheikh’s commitment to political reforms, including education reform.
Ambassador Woodward stressed the need for an inclusive consultation process on the revision of the constitution.
She called on all parties, including Puntland, to effectively participate in the construction of the country’s government.
