The Prime Minister of Somalia appointed a Special Election Committee today and the power to appoint an independent Commission.

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, today appointed the Provisional Committee for Elections for the vacant seats in the 11th Parliament of Somalia.

“Mr. Hamse, when he saw the articles 99 and 100 of the Transitional Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the decision of the Standing Committee of the People’s Assembly numbered GSH/B11/0522, he signed the Chairman of the People’s Assembly. Circular No. 60 of the cancellation of Presidential Decree No. 40 issued by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, which was dissolved by the Independent Commission for National Elections” was said in a statement issued by the Office of Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre.

Prime Minister Hamse has appointed this committee consisting of 9 members, who will manage the elections for vacant seats in the 11th Parliament of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

The appointment of this committee has come, as today the Prime Minister received the members of this new committee in his office and instructed them to carry out their duties in a transparent and fair manner.

The appointed members of the committee are:-

1. Abdi Rahim Abdullahi Shafi
2. Abdirisaq Diriye Warsame
3. Abdi Hiis Udan
4. Abdishakour Abib Hayr
5. Abdullahi Abdi Aden
6. Mawlid Matan Salat
7. Mohamed Adan Osman Yare
8. Yusuf Abdikadir Mohamed
9. Zahra Abdirahman Mohamed.
