The Somali forces with the help of the local people known as Maawisleyda carried out a planned operation this morning to kill members of Al-Shabaab in Barag Gurgurte area which is one of the areas under Harardhere district.

The operation killed more than 30 members of Al-Shabaab group who were at their base in Barag Gurgurte area, which is on the west side of Harardhere town in Mudug region, where Al-Shabaab group was said to be gathering.

“The operation that took place in the area of ​​Barag Gurgurrte, which was the largest seat of the Khawarij, was carried out by the army and the local forces, and the preliminary casualties of the officials confirmed that 33 Khawarij were killed in the operation and their command and the army took over. ” was said in a statement issued by the Federal Government.

This operation which took place early in the morning in the Barag Gurgurte area coincides with the Al-Shabaab group leaving the areas of Dumaye and Dabagale in the south of Mudug region, after the government forces and the locals started strong operations there.

Areas and districts of Mudug, Galgaduud and Hiraan regions have resumed heavy operations against the Al-Shabaab group, which has been on hiatus for the past months.
