The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, welcomed the fruits of the efforts of Puntland traditional elders to hold an election in which political parties agree.
President Hassan Sheikh also welcomed the decision of the Puntland President Saeed Abdullahi Deni, which will overcome the uncertainty that existed during the Puntland elections.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud noted that the decision of President Saeed Abdullahi Deni and the role of intellectuals and the name of Puntland are measures that strengthen the stability and political development of Puntland and Somalia in general.
“Puntland is at the center of the Federal System of the country, it is an example of peace and unity, so we are strengthening the efforts of the elders of culture and intelligence. I pray to God that the election ends in mutual understanding and a peaceful environment that reflects the history of the Puntland regions,” said President Hassan Sheikh.
Hassan Sheikh encouraged the parties involved in the Puntland election process to continue the negotiations, and said that he stands by the completion of the election and to overcome this stage of consultation, compromise and peace in Puntland.
