The government of Somaliland has warned the United Nations Security Council that it is one of the areas where the African Union Peacekeeping Mission operates in Somalia.
“Somaliland opposes any statement issued by the Security Council, which states that Somaliland is one of the locations for the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), Somaliland is an independent country, and is not part of it,” said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Somaliland.
It is said in the text that Somaliland has spoken several times about its decision to operate, but it will repeat it again after a resolution to expand the operation by the Security Council, which Somaliland may be told in the areas where the operation operates.
It is said that both AMISOM and ATMIS are peacekeeping operations that were brought to Somalia in 2007 to help the government fight Al Shabaab and other terrorist organizations.

Somaliland has asked the United Nations Security Council to make changes to the Somaliland resolution on the areas where the mission operates, and to respect Somaliland’s independence.
