The Minister of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ali Mohamed Omar (Ali Balcad), said that the government of Somalia has fulfilled its commitment to Tanzania, which was to support Somalia in winning the presidency of the world parliament.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs who gave an interview, said that in August of this year, the ministry contacted the woman who is the Speaker of the Parliament of Tanzania, who has now become the President of the World Parliament, who asked Somalia to support her.
The minister of state said when they were making the promise that there is no one from Somalia who has nominated for the election of the world parliament. He said that the government of Somalia supported Tulia Ackson.
“Two months or a month ago, a Somali girl appeared who wanted to run for that seat. We told them and submitted to the parliament that we have promised to give our vote to the country of Tanzania. Countries should keep their promises, their reputation is in it,” said Minister Balcad.
The Minister of State said that Somalia then wrote a letter to Tanzania asking Somalia to give up a non-permanent seat in the Security Council, which is between Somalia, Tanzania and Mauritius.
