The European Union has announced €89.5 million, of which €20 million is intended to support the Somali government’s budget.
“The European Union has a strong partnership with Somalia. With this investment, we intend to deal with government building in Somalia, looking at political priorities and potential risks,” said Jutta Urpilainen.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Abshir Omar Jama thanked the European Union for this support, saying that this will strengthen the cooperation between the European Union and Somalia, and to further develop the economy of Somalia and efforts to rebuild the government.
This support announced by the European Union, came after the Cabinet of Ministers of Somalia passed the 2024 government budget.
The government budget reached one billion dollars. The government said there has been an increase in domestic revenue.
