The Governor of Banadir Yusuf Hussein Jimale (Madaale) spoke about the reason for the removal of people from the land of Casa Italia in the district of Hamar, which is a land owned by the Italian government.
The governor of Banadir region said that the demolition of the building of Kaasa Italia came at the request of the Italian embassy, which he said demanded that its land be vacated.
“And the community is told that there is no businessman or Somali government that will use that land”, said the governor.
On the other hand, the spokesperson of Banadir region, Salah Dheere, who also spoke to the media, said that the Italian government is rebuilding the headquarters of Casa Italia, and development projects are being implemented to support the community.
The spokesman said that the government did not do any violence to the people who were living or doing business in that area. He said that a month ago the government informed him to move out.
He also falsely stated that the government is handing over the land of Casa Italia to certain individuals who are among the president’s relatives.
