Kenyan security forces have increased their operations on the border that Kenya shares with Somalia, in response to recent attacks by the Al-Shabaab group.
A series of attacks by Al-Shabaab on Kenyan army positions in Garisa, Lamu and Mandera in the North has forced the Kenyan government to withdraw its plan to reopen the border with Somalia.
In a recent attack on a military base in Siraari, Kenyan security forces killed two suspected suicide bombers and brought down a drone used by Al-Shabaab to gather information before the attack.
The incident in Siraari confirmed that the al-Shabaab group has begun to include UAVs in their operations.
So far, al-Shabaab has not been able to add explosives or other weapons to drones like Boko Haram did in the Lake Chad Valley.
Drones have become a valuable tool for security forces and terrorist groups in recent years.
All African militaries have invested in integrated drone technology from around the world.
