The administration of South West Somalia has announced that they will soon start heavy operations on the highway connecting the cities of Baidoa and Mogadishu to remove the Al-Shabaab group.

The adviser to the president of the South West administration, Abdizais Mohamed Hassan Laftagareen, in the field of media, Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi Hayow, said that the South West is running a plan to remove the isolation from the South West areas of the besieged group.

He said that the Dervishes and the Federal forces are operating in the South West areas where Al-Shabaab is located.

“Strong preparations for the second phase of operations to fight Al-Shabaab are currently underway and the forces of the South West region have been prepared to take part in the operations to eliminate Al-Shabaab,” said Presidential Adviser Lafgagareen Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi Hayow.

The adviser also noted that the only way to achieve success against Al-Shabaab is for the administration and the public to fight the group together.

This official’s statement comes as the 11th day of lockdown in Baidoa, the capital of Bay region, has caused the price of food to double the price of everything.
