The United States African Command, known as AFRICOM, announced that three self-defence strikes targeted members of Al-Shabaab.
The statement issued by the AFRICOM military mission said that the bombing came after a request from the government of Somalia.
AFRICOM said the attack took place in Afmadow district of Lower Jubba region, after a battle between government forces and Al-Shabaab in the past few hours.
The news from the AFRICOM mission said that 10 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the airstrikes, and no civilians were harmed in the airstrikes.
The news from the US military operation of AFRICOM is coming, as the government of Somalia announced today that 40 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in an operation in Afmadow district.
