The Minister of Internal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, held a meeting in Mogadishu with the Special Envoy of the African Union in charge of Somalia, the head of ATMIS Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef, the commander of ATMIS Lt. General Sam Okiding and the ATMIS police chief.

The meeting was about the operations against the Al-Shabaab group and how to stabilize the areas recently liberated from the fighters of the Al-Shabaab Organization.

The Special Envoy of the African Union in charge of Somalia, Ambassador Mohamed El-Amine Souef, has promised that the ATMIS mission will play a major role in stabilizing the areas that have been removed from the Al-Shabaab group, and is committed to supporting the Somali government forces. .

Minister Ahmed Macalin Fiqi thanked the leaders of the African Union ATMIS mission for the support and assistance they provide to the Somali armed forces in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

The conclusion of this meeting is approaching, as last week the ATMIS forces handed over some of their bases in the Middle Shabelle region to the Somali army.
