Somalia’s Galmudug state parliament denies president statement

parliament of Galmudug state in central Somalia on Sunday denied statement from the president Mohamed Ahmed Alin, in which he said the decision sacked him by the lawmakers from office few weeks ago was organized by outside figures against 

A press conference held in Galka’yo town in Mudug region by Hassan Mohamoud, the speaker of Galmudug state parliament denied any foreign intervention funded the parliament to sack the president, adding that the lawmakers of the state have sworn in for defending their country and religion.

 

This comes as last month the parliament sacked president Mohamed Ahmed Alin, who they accused to have failed to secure the security of Galmudug state.

 

Galmudug state is a self-styled administration in parts of Mudug region in central Somalia, which has seen escalation of violent attacks in Galkayo city, where civilians, Government officials, humanitarian aid workers have been targeted and disrupted by armed groups based in the divided Galkayo town.
