High delegation led by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Friday arrived in the war-torn Somali capital Mogadishu, making a historic visit to by the U.N.’s top leader to Mogadishu in years.
The UN delegation held talk with senior Somali officials, including Somali Prime Minister Abdiweli Mohamed Ali and members of his cabinet ministers.
Security in the Somali capital Mogadishu was tightened ahead of the UN delegation’s arrival. Thousands of police and military personnel were stationed along key roads in the city.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is likely to hold talks with the Somali president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed at the presidential palace in Mogadishu.
