The Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission has released the official schedule for the election of the leadership and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the South West State of Somalia, ushering in a new phase in the country’s electoral process.
According to the schedule released by the commission, the recruitment and registration of candidates for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives will begin on June 2, while the list of candidates will be announced on June 3, and the election of members of the Speaker is scheduled to take place on June 4.
Meanwhile, the leadership contest in the South West State will open on June 5, with candidates registering for the position for two days.
The final list of candidates will be announced on June 7, while the candidates’ speeches are scheduled for June 8.
The schedule shows that the South West State leadership election will take place on June 10, amid political debates over the electoral process and the level of consultation among political parties.
