Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, visited Iran on Friday, where he met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The two sides discussed diplomatic efforts to defuse regional tensions and end what Iran has described as a war between the United States and Israel.

Iranian state media reported that a foreign ministry spokesman said the gap in the mediation talks between Tehran and Washington was “deep and wide,” indicating that a political solution to the conflict remained elusive.

Meanwhile, the Global Peace Flotilla said at least 15 Gaza aid workers had been sexually assaulted, including raped, after being intercepted by Israeli forces while sailing in international waters. The group accused Israel of illegally abducting the people.

Nine countries, including Australia, Canada, France and Germany, issued a joint statement demanding that Israel halt illegal settlement construction in the occupied West Bank and hold accountable settlers responsible for attacks on Palestinians.

Israeli forces also continued their airstrikes in southern Lebanon, where at least ten people were killed on Friday, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. The attacks reportedly targeted medical facilities and emergency workers.
