The Minister of Interior of the federal government of Somalia, Ali Yusuf Ali Xoosh, has launched a verbal attack on President Said Abdullahi Deni, accusing him of being an obstacle to the statehood, unity of the country and the development of Somalia.
In a post on his Facebook page, Ali Xoosh said that the statement issued yesterday by the Puntland presidency does not serve the people of Puntland and the Somali society in general, but is part of a chain of denial and confusion that he said has been crippling the statehood of Somalia for a long time.
Minister Ali Xoosh said that Deni’s policy is based on two things: disrupting everything that develops the country and supporting everything that divides or delays it.
Ali Xoosh accused Deni of previously opposing plans including debt forgiveness for Somalia, one-person, one-vote elections, utilizing the country’s resources and building a national army.
He also said that the Puntland president supported foreign interests and used Puntland to exert political pressure on the central government.
Yesterday, Puntland said it did not recognize Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as the legitimate president, accusing him of illegally abusing the power of the presidential office.
Puntland has called for an urgent meeting of all political parties in Somalia to agree on an inclusive electoral process.
