Military officials impose travel ban on the South West Ministry of Security.

The Ministry of Internal Security of the South West Government of Somalia has today informed all officers that they cannot leave the city of Baidoa for any trip until further notice.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Internal Security of the South West Government of Somalia stated that this order was imposed on officers as part of ensuring the general security and stability of the areas of the South West Government.

“The Ministry of Internal Security of the South West Government of Somalia, in discharging its responsibility to ensure the security and general stability of the areas of the KGS Government, hereby informs all the above-mentioned officers that starting today, which is 16/03/2026, they cannot leave the city of Baidoa for any trip until further notice while security operations are being carried out. Therefore, all officers and officials mentioned in this letter are instructed to comply with this order, until another official order is issued by the Ministry of Internal Security DKS.” the statement from the Ministry said.

Earlier reports indicated that the Federal Government of Somalia has summoned some military officers to enter Mogadishu this week. So far, some of these officers have already arrived in Mogadishu, while others are still not informed about their arrival or decision on their summons.

The officers summoned include, as we have learned, the Commander of the National Security and Intelligence Agency in the South-West Regional State, Lieutenant General Mahmoud Shahiyow, and the Commander of the 60th Division of the Somali National Army, Lieutenant General Mohamed Yariisow Adan.
