The Somali National University (JUS) has issued a legal warning regarding the demolition of its land in Hodan district of Banadir region.

According to a press release issued by the university, the demolition of the university’s land, including student work and Sharia houses, is illegal.

The press release noted that the university is taking all necessary legal action to protect its property rights, and to prevent the illegal use of the land and the desecration of names that have no connection to the university’s land.

“The university administration is taking all necessary legal action to mark the history of the university’s ownership, and is based on the extensive investigative measures that have been put in place to resolve the issue of names taken from party houses and the socialist center on university land that have no bearing on the university’s land,” the university said in a statement.

The university has finally urged the Somali public not to be misled by any commercial activity on the land, a crime they have committed in order not to be mistaken for illegal activities.
