The Qatar Chamber of Commerce hosted a business delegation from the Federal Republic of Somalia on Tuesday, led by the Somali Minister of Commerce and Industry, Jamal Mohamed Hassan.
The delegation was received by the Second Deputy Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Governors, Rashid bin Hamad Al-Cathba, and was attended by members of the Board of Governors, including Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Jubeidli and Shaheen bin Mohamed Al-Muhannadi.
The Somali Minister of Commerce and Industry said that the country has vast investment opportunities across many sectors, encouraging Qatari businessmen to invest in Somalia and benefit from the incentives and facilitation provided by the Somali government.
He noted that Somalia’s geographical location in the Horn of Africa makes it an important gateway for regional trade.
The Minister also welcomed the strengthening of cooperation between Somali and Qatari businessmen, especially through joint projects, investments and business alliances, expressing the hope that the Qatar Chamber of Commerce will enhance investment opportunities in Somalia and facilitate trade relations between the two sides.
For his part, the Second Deputy Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, Rashid Al-Cathba, said that the relationship between Qatar and Somalia is special, noting that the Chamber of Commerce is ready to assist the Somali side in investing in Qatar, and will inform Qatari businessmen about investment opportunities in Somalia.
He also pointed out that Qatar is an important business hub for a large regional market, urging Somali investors to take advantage of the investment opportunities offered by Qatar, which include modern infrastructure and a world-class investment climate.
For his part, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Cubeydli said that Qatari businessmen have shown great interest in learning about investment opportunities in Somalia, especially those related to food security, tourism, infrastructure, real estate, banking and financial technology.
