The Somali Foreign Minister, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, has strongly denied and rejected reports and suggestions that Palestinians are being displaced within Somalia, especially in Somaliland.
In an interview with Al-Jazeera on Monday, the minister said that it is completely unacceptable for Palestinians to be forced to leave their country or be relocated to another land, especially to Somaliland or to establish a military base there.
The minister stressed that Somalia will never allow anything that could lead to forced displacement or settlement of the Palestinian people, noting that Somalia’s position is clear and based on supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and their right to their own land.
Minister Abdisalam also said that Somalia hopes for the support of its friends and the international community to achieve a united, peaceful, and stable Somali state.
Finally, the Somali Foreign Minister reiterated that the country will never be part of any plan that harms the Palestinian people or violates their rights, describing such ideas as contrary to the principles of humanity, morality, and international law.
