The Somali Armed Forces yesterday executed Abdifitaah Ali Hassan Diiriye in a public place on the outskirts of Guriceel district in Galgaduud region, and the Galgaduud Regional Court sentenced him to death by firing squad.
The Galgaduud Regional Court said it had found evidence that the man who was executed had committed the murder of a businessman named Deeq Abdi Jamaac in the city on the 16th of this month.
The court hastened the execution of this man due to the recent increase in clan-based killings in Galmudug administration areas.
The Galgaduud Regional Court also indicated that this sentence was reduced to send a message to the clan militias that carry out clan-based killings in Galmudug areas.
The reports also state that the speedy execution of this sentence is a request from the traditional elders and intellectuals of Guriceel district in Galgaduud region who have previously promised that anyone who commits a murder in Guriceel will be punished according to Islamic law.
Finally, the people of Guriceel have greatly appreciated this revenge killing and that justice is working, as it is the only way for people to be saved.
