The Prime Minister of the Government of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, today officially appointed Prof. Saalim Aliyow Ibrow as the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the decision to appoint him came after the Prime Minister assessed the scope and importance of the tasks facing the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, which is a cornerstone of the country’s social development and job creation plan.
Prof. Saalim Aliyow Ibrow is a politician and scholar with extensive experience in administration and government, having previously served as Deputy Prime Minister and Interim Prime Minister during the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia.
This is his 18th appearance in the Somali Cabinet, from the government of Omar Arte Qalib in 1991 to the current one of Hamse Abdi Barre.
During his various government positions, Prof. Ibrow held important ministries such as the Ministries of Finance, Animal Husbandry, Culture and Higher Education.
He was also one of the MPs who contested for the position of Speaker of Parliament after the removal of Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden.
Prof. Saalim Aliyow Ibrow is also currently the National Representative of Somalia to UNESCO, which reflects his active role in the fields of knowledge, culture, and social development.
