The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued an official notice informing all registered political parties, after the verification and registration of party symbols and numbers to be used in the upcoming local council elections has been completed.
According to a statement from the Office of the General Registrar of the National Electoral Commission (GNEC), the parties have been instructed to review their symbols and numbers to ensure their accuracy.
They are also to submit a formal complaint or request for correction if there are any errors, within 24 hours from the time of this notice.
The commission said that this step is part of efforts to ensure transparency, accountability, and public trust, while also ensuring that electoral laws that guarantee fairness and free competition are observed.
The Election Commission plans to hold local council elections in Mogadishu next month.
