The Deputy Minister of Defense of Somalia, accompanied by the Commander of the Somali National Army, received at the ministry headquarters the Commander of Defense of the Egyptian Embassy in Somalia, Colonel Ahmed Fathi Abdelsatar Al-Husayni.
The meeting focused on strengthening military cooperation between the two countries, military training programs, and accelerating the readiness of the Egyptian army as part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The two sides stressed the importance of full cooperation in the field of defense to strengthen peace and stability in the region, especially efforts to ensure security in Somalia.
The Ministry of Defense welcomed Egypt’s role in supporting the Somali forces and its role in the AUSSOM operation, considering it an important step in strengthening regional cooperation.
The Egyptian government is planning to soon deploy thousands of troops to the AUSSOM operation in Somalia to contribute to the stabilization of Somalia.
