The Somali Federal Police Force today displayed containers full of psychotropic substances seized by government security forces at the Mogadishu main port.
The drugs seized by the forces at the Mogadishu main port are a drug that has been increasing in use among Somali youth in recent times.
Somali Police Force Spokesperson Abdifatah Adan Hassan, who spoke to the media at the Mogadishu port, said that security forces seized two containers containing the drugs after receiving information from the Somali police.
The spokesman said that the drugs they seized included pills known as Tramadol and Bilig bilig, the most dangerous types of drugs that are banned for use and trade in the country.
“The narcotics we seized contained 17 cartons, 112 cartons of Tramadol, and 120 cartons of codeine syrup, all of which are narcotics that pose a threat to the health of Somali youth,” said Somali Police Spokesperson Abdifatah Adan Hassan.
Spokesperson Abdifatah also said that strict action will be taken against the dealers who were importing these narcotics into Mogadishu, in order to spread them to the future Somali youth, who have been using these narcotics extensively in recent times.
However, this action to seize these narcotics is coming, as yesterday, another narcotics that was intended to be smuggled into Mogadishu was seized at Aden Adde Airport.
