A new report published by the Financial Times says that the international consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has prepared a controversial plan to explore the possibility of relocating some Gazans to places including Somalia and Somaliland.
The report said that the plan was prepared by the firm for a group of Israeli businessmen who wanted to develop reconstruction plans for Gaza after the fighting between Israel and Hamas stops.
The plan, which was presented by BCG, predicted that up to 25% of Gazans would likely want to temporarily move out of Gaza, with no intention of returning.
One source told The Times that: “If there are Gazans who move temporarily, voluntarily, the host country could get a productive workforce that could boost its economy.”
It has also been reported that BCG plays a key role in the “Gaza Relief Agency,” an organization supported by the United States and Israel that manages the distribution of humanitarian aid inside Gaza, which has also sparked much debate and criticism.
