Yemeni authorities have deported Somaliland’s trade representative to the country, Idris Aden Raage, after more than two months in detention in the city of Aden, Yemeni sources and Somali media reported.
Raage was reportedly released from custody before being flown out of Aden International Airport on an Air Djibouti flight.
The Yemeni government has yet to officially release the reason for his arrest or the details of the deportation.
According to reports, Aden security forces arrested Raage on June 13, 2026, following a raid on the Somaliland trade representative office in the Khormaksar district.
Local media reported that the arrest was linked to an event Raage organized on May 18, which marked what Somaliland calls its national day.
The event reportedly took place without the necessary authorization and was attended by members of the Southern Transitional Council (STC).
A member of the Somaliland House of Representatives, Guuleed Mohamed Warsame, said that during his detention, some of the trade office’s equipment and assets were confiscated, noting that his release was directly followed by his deportation from the country.
Yemen has long hosted the Somaliland trade office, which previously operated in Sana’a before its operations were transferred to Aden.
