Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with various segments of Somali civil society at the National Palace, and this meeting was a prelude to the inauguration that the President called for on June 15, 2025.

Although Villa Somalia has not officially announced who will officially attend this inauguration, it is already clear that President Hassan Sheikh began the meetings by noting the importance of the Somali people, especially civil society, playing a prominent role in shaping the future of the country.

“If we want Somalia to move forward, we must move away from where we have been for a long time. Democratizing the country is an important pillar of governance, and we must give the Somali people a full opportunity to participate in determining their own destiny.” The Somali Presidential Palace said in a statement.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh also said that he will continue his regular meetings with various segments of society, in order to further strengthen preparations for the inauguration on June 15.

These meetings will focus on issues that are central to the country’s state-building, such as the federal system, the constitution, elections, and security.

Earlier, when the Somali President announced that he would hold the meeting, it was welcomed by members of the Opposition, although their participation was conditional on the participation of the Puntland and Jubaland Regional Administrations.
